What the data says

An overview of the public data behind ABT.

Abbott closes at $116.64, sitting in the upper half of a 52-week band that runs from $81.97 to $137.49 — roughly 42% above the low and about 15% below the high. That spread describes a stock that has covered meaningful ground over the past year rather than drifting, and the current price sits closer to the top of that path than the bottom.

At a $202 billion market capitalization, the trailing P/E of 37.7 is roughly twice the forward P/E of 19.2, a gap that reflects expectations of materially higher earnings ahead relative to the last twelve months. Price-to-book stands at 3.9. Underlying profitability is more modest than the headline multiple implies: a net profit margin of 11.6% on revenue growth of 13%. The dividend yield of 2.16% and a beta of 0.581 round out the picture — the latter meaning the stock has historically moved a little over half as much as the broader market, so its day-to-day behavior is less tied to index swings than a typical large-cap.

Recent coverage has been more sector- and income-oriented than company-specific. Several pieces frame Abbott within broader themes — healthcare and biotech ETF comparisons, dividend stocks positioned against a weakening labor market, and dividend-focused funds — alongside a direct comparison with Johnson & Johnson and a piece on the company's dividend record. Genuinely company-level news is thin in the current flow; the closest industry items are an FDA clearance for a competing cardiac monitoring analyzer and a market-size projection for blood transfusion diagnostics, both touching segments Abbott operates in without being about Abbott itself.
