What the data says

An overview of the public data behind TPC.

At $99.11, Tutor Perini closes near the upper edge of a 52-week band that runs from $53.83 to $102.30 — a range wide enough that the low sits roughly 46% below the high, so the past year has covered a great deal of ground rather than trading in a narrow channel. The current price is within about 3% of the top of that range, meaning the stock is being quoted close to where it has traded at its strongest over the period, with the whole climb from the low still recent history.

The market is valuing the roughly $5.2 billion business at about 43 times trailing earnings but only about 16 times forward earnings, a wide gap that reflects expectations of considerably higher earnings ahead rather than a stable multiple. That gap is worth reading alongside how thin the current profitability is: a net profit margin near 2.1% is characteristic of contracting work, where large revenue passes through the income statement and little of it settles as profit, and revenue growth of about 19% shows the top line expanding faster than that margin would imply for earnings stability. The dividend yield is minimal at 0.36%, so almost all of the return question rests on the share price. A beta of about 2.07 indicates the shares have historically moved roughly twice as much as the broad market in both directions.

Recent coverage centers on the company itself rather than on engineering and construction as a sector. Headlines have tracked a strong single-day move in July 2026, a 183% twelve-month gain noted in late December 2025 alongside a large holder rebalancing a $47 million stake, an insider purchase of about $2.6 million in November 2025, and earnings-driven momentum in May 2025. Further back, the January 2025 leadership transition — Gary Smalley becoming CEO with Ronald Tutor continuing as executive chairman — is the main governance item in the flow. Only one piece, a 2025 commercial construction industry forecast, addresses the wider market, so the news stream is predominantly company-level.
