What the data says

An overview of the public data behind VIAV.

At $42.99, the stock trades roughly 29% below its 52-week high of $60.43 and more than four times its 52-week low of $10.45. That is an unusually wide band for a single year — the high is nearly six times the low — and it places the current price in the upper third of the range, well off the bottom but some distance from the peak. A range that broad reflects a stock that has repriced dramatically rather than drifted, and the current level sits in the middle of that repricing rather than at either edge.

The market values the business at about $10.7 billion, or roughly 22 times forward earnings and just over 7 times book value, which prices in earnings that have not yet arrived: the trailing profit margin is negative at about -2%, so the company is not currently profitable on a net basis. Set against that, revenue grew about 53% over the comparison period, so the multiple is attached to a top line expanding quickly while the bottom line remains below breakeven. A beta of 1.23 means the shares have historically moved somewhat more than the broad market in both directions, which is consistent with the width of the 52-week range.

Recent coverage splits between company-specific and sector-wide items. The Viavi-focused headlines cluster around single-session price moves — a jump of more than 17% in late January and another advance at the end of April — and around insider selling, including reported share sales by the CEO in February and the CMO in March. The remainder is broader context rather than news about the company itself: small-cap ETF comparisons, a market roundup, and a piece on tech stocks rallying after an Iran ceasefire, where Viavi appears as one name among several. The most recent items in this set date from May 2026.
