What the data says
An overview of the public data behind LUMN.
At $6.38, Lumen trades near the lower third of its 52-week range of $3.94 to $11.95 — roughly 47% below the high and about 62% above the low. That span, with the high nearly triple the low, describes a stock that has moved through a wide arc over the past year rather than settling into a narrow band, and a beta of 1.81 is consistent with moves that tend to be larger than the broad market's in either direction.
The market is valuing the equity at about $6.5 billion, and the standard valuation ratios do not resolve into multiples here: forward P/E and price-to-book are both negative, reflecting expected losses rather than earnings and a book value of equity below zero. The profitability figures line up with that — a net margin of about -8.7%, alongside revenue that is down roughly 9.3% year over year. Taken together, the numbers describe a business currently shrinking at the top line and unprofitable at the bottom, which is why earnings-based valuation measures carry no meaningful reading in this case.
The recent news flow is thin on company-specific developments. Much of it is comparison and screening commentary from financial media — pieces weighing Lumen against Viasat and Nokia, dividend-stock roundups, and coverage of AT&T that touches the wider telecom group rather than Lumen itself. The clearest company-level items are a March 2026 announcement that Atos is using Lumen's Network as a Service for AI-oriented infrastructure work, and a February 2026 report of a director selling 45,000 shares. Several remaining headlines concern enterprise AI and governance topics with no direct tie to the company, so the overall coverage leans more toward sector and thematic context than to news originating at Lumen.
