What the data says
An overview of the public data behind IRDM.
Iridium closes at $49.38, near the upper end of a 52-week band that runs from $15.65 to $57.18. That range is unusually wide — the high sits more than three times the low — so the stock has repriced dramatically over the past year, and the current level reflects most of that move having already happened rather than a stock that has traded quietly in place.
At a roughly $5.3 billion market capitalization, the shares change hands at about 57 times trailing earnings and around 25 times forward estimates, a gap that reflects expectations of considerably higher earnings ahead. Price to book sits near 11. The underlying business converts about 10.5% of revenue into profit, with revenue growing roughly 3.8% — modest top-line expansion against a meaningfully higher multiple. A beta of 0.88 indicates the stock has moved somewhat less than the broader market, and the dividend yield of about 1.2% adds a small income component.
The recent news flow is notable for what it is not about: almost none of it centers on Iridium directly. The headlines from mid-July through early August 2026 are dominated by Rocket Lab, AST SpaceMobile, and SpaceX comparisons, with Iridium appearing mainly as a counterparty — one piece frames Rocket Lab's projected 2027 profitability as depending on Iridium. Coverage is therefore running through the wider space and satellite communications sector rather than through company-specific developments.
