What the data says

An overview of the public data behind GSAT.

Globalstar closed at $83.56, effectively at the top of a 52-week range that runs from $24.37 to $84.85 — the stock has more than tripled off its low over the past year, and the width of that band is a reminder of how far sentiment has traveled in a short period. A beta of 1.51 puts its typical swing well above the broader market's.

The market is capitalizing the business at roughly $10.8 billion, or about 31 times book value, with a forward price-to-earnings ratio near 272. Those multiples sit against results that are currently unprofitable: the profit margin is negative at about -18.5%, and revenue has contracted roughly 3.5% year over year. In other words, the price reflects expectations well beyond what the trailing operating figures show today.

Recent headlines have been more about the satellite and space-communications sector than about Globalstar's own operations. Coverage over the past several months has tracked a SpaceX debut and the shakeout that followed, an AST SpaceMobile satellite that failed to reach its planned orbit, an Iridium rally, and repeated speculation about Amazon's position in the space. Globalstar surfaces mainly in that acquisition-related coverage — an April roundup citing an Amazon purchase of the company, and an earlier piece framing it as a possible acquisition target — so the news flow reads as a mix of sector-wide movement and consolidation talk rather than company-specific operating updates.
