What the data says

An overview of the public data behind QSR.

At $78.07, Restaurant Brands International trades near the upper end of its 52-week band of $61.33 to $81.96 — roughly 5% below the high and about 27% above the low. That range spans a little over a third of the low end, a relatively contained span for a full year of trading, and the current price sits in the top quarter of it.

The market values the business at about $35.8 billion, or 19.6 times trailing earnings and 17.7 times forward estimates — the gap between the two reflecting expectations of higher earnings ahead. Profitability is solid at a 13.1% net margin, though revenue growth of 4.6% is modest, and the 7.1 price-to-book ratio reflects the asset-light nature of a business whose restaurants are almost entirely franchisee-operated. The dividend yield stands at 3.33%, and a beta of 0.53 means the shares have historically moved with roughly half the amplitude of the broader market.

Recent coverage has been weighted toward the company itself, particularly Burger King's $700 million remodeling and turnaround effort, which has been the subject of multiple stories since the spring. Beyond that, the flow has been comparative and sector-oriented: how the company's revenue trends stack up against McDonald's, how a Yum Brands deal read across to QSR, Tim Hortons China's full-year results, an IPO filing from sandwich chain Jersey Mike's, and consumer surveys on fast-food preference. The mix points to a stock discussed as much through the lens of the wider quick-service restaurant landscape as on its own developments.
