What the data says
An overview of the public data behind ON.
At $70.17, the stock sits closer to the bottom than the top of a very wide 52-week band that runs from $44.56 to $134.92. The high is roughly three times the low, which is an unusually broad spread for a single year and points to a stock that has repriced sharply in both directions rather than drifting. From here, the price is about 57% above the low and roughly half the high, placing it below the midpoint of that range.
The market is valuing the roughly $29.6 billion business at about 50 times trailing earnings but under 17 times forward earnings, a gap that reflects expectations of considerably higher earnings ahead than the trailing twelve months produced. Price to book sits near 4.1. The underlying profitability is moderate for the sector: a net margin of about 10% on revenue growth of roughly 9%. A beta close to 2.0 means the shares have historically moved about twice as much as the broader market in either direction, which is consistent with the width of the 52-week range.
Recent headlines split between company-specific items and broader sector coverage. The company-level items include a reported $7 billion move tied to AI, a law firm's announced investigation on behalf of investors, and commentary comparing the company with other AI infrastructure names. The rest of the flow is sector-level rather than about this business specifically: a gate driver IC market sizing report, a broker adding semiconductor share CFDs, and insider stock disposals at Synaptics, a separate company. The volume of coverage is therefore not a clean read on the company alone.
