What the data says
An overview of the public data behind MU.
Micron closed at $979.30, a level that sits in the upper part of its 52-week range but well below the $1,255.00 high, and enormously above the $103.38 low at the other end. A range that wide over a single year is unusual: the stock has traded across almost a tenfold span, so the current price reflects a period of very large re-rating rather than a settled band. A beta of 2.14 fits that picture, indicating the shares have historically moved roughly twice as much as the broad market in both directions.
At a market capitalization of about $1.11 trillion, the shares change hands at roughly 22 times trailing earnings and about 15 times book value, while the forward multiple of 6.5 is far lower — a gap that shows the market is pricing in materially higher earnings ahead rather than the level already reported. Reported profitability is high in absolute terms, with a profit margin near 56%, so the trailing multiple rests on earnings that are already substantial. The distance between the trailing and forward figures, more than either number on its own, is what characterizes how this business is currently being valued.
Recent coverage is mostly sector-level rather than company-specific. Micron appears in market round-ups alongside Nvidia and SanDisk ahead of upcoming earnings, and in broader semiconductor stock lists, while the most distinct memory-industry item is SK Hynix's Nasdaq listing — a competitor event rather than a Micron one. Several other headlines in the flow concern unrelated companies and funds, so there is little in the current news that is specific to Micron itself.

About Micron Technology, Inc.
Micron Technology designs, manufactures, and sells memory and storage products. Founded in 1978 and headquartered in Boise, Idaho, it is one of the few remaining large-scale producers of DRAM and NAND flash memory, and it sells under the Micron brand as well as the consumer-facing Crucial brand. The product line spans DRAM components and modules, low-power memory for mobile devices, graphics memory, high-bandwidth memory used in data center and AI accelerator systems, and CXL-based memory, alongside NAND-based storage such as data center and client solid-state drives, managed NAND, and memory cards. Micron organizes its business around four end markets — cloud memory, core data center, mobile and client, and automotive and embedded — and reaches customers through a direct sales force, distributors, retailers, and online channels. It also publishes design and support tools, including power calculators, simulation models, compatibility guides, and firmware and drivers, to help customers integrate its parts.
