What the data says
An overview of the public data behind KLAC.
KLA trades at $183.99, roughly 40% below its 52-week high of $307.37 but more than double its 52-week low of $83.22. That range is unusually wide — the high sits nearly four times the low — which tells you the past year involved very large swings rather than a steady drift, and the current price sits closer to the middle of that span than to either end.
At around $240 billion in market capitalization, the stock carries a trailing P/E near 50 against a forward P/E of about 28, a gap that reflects expectations of meaningfully higher earnings ahead. The company converts about 36% of revenue into profit and grew revenue roughly 15%, so the profitability behind those multiples is substantial in absolute terms; price-to-book near 38 is far above the level typical of asset-heavy manufacturers, a reminder that most of the market's valuation rests on earnings power rather than balance-sheet assets. The dividend yield is 0.5%, and a beta of 1.46 means the shares have historically moved about half again as much as the broader market in both directions — consistent with the wide 52-week range.
Recent headlines say more about the sector than about KLA itself. Coverage over the past few months has centered on semiconductor and AI-related themes broadly: chip-equipment market sizing, semiconductor ETF performance, a Nasdaq 100 session led by chips, and a billionaire investor adding chip-equipment names. Only one item in the recent flow is specific to the company — a note on a single day when the stock outpaced the broader market. Aside from that, KLA appears in the news mainly as a constituent of the wider semiconductor equipment trade.

About KLA Corporation Common Stock
KLA Corporation designs and manufactures process control and yield management systems for the semiconductor and related electronics industries. Its tools inspect and measure wafers, reticles, and printed circuit boards at successive stages of production — identifying and characterizing defects, measuring pattern dimensions, film thickness, layer alignment, and surface properties, and feeding that data into software that classifies defects and adjusts processes to improve yield. The company reports in three segments: Semiconductor Process Control; Specialty Semiconductor Process, which covers etch, plasma dicing, and deposition equipment; and PCB and Component Inspection, which serves printed circuit board manufacturing and semiconductor packaging with direct imaging, inspection, and related systems. Incorporated in 1975 and headquartered in Milpitas, California, KLA operated as KLA-Tencor Corporation until adopting its current name in 2019.
