What the data says
An overview of the public data behind ETR.
Entergy trades at $106.31, sitting closer to the upper half of a 52-week band that runs from $86.40 to $118.45. That range spans a little over a third of the low end, which is a relatively contained span for a full year of trading, and the current price leaves the stock roughly 10% below its 52-week high and about 23% above its low.
The market values the business at roughly $49.6 billion, or 27.2 times trailing earnings, falling to 20.8 times on forward estimates — a gap that reflects expected earnings growth ahead. Shares change hands at 2.7 times book value. Underneath that, the company converts about 13.3% of revenue into profit, with revenue growing 5.9%, and it pays a dividend yielding 2.42%. A beta of 0.49 means the stock has historically moved about half as much as the broader market, which is typical of regulated utilities whose earnings are set largely by rate structures rather than economic cycles.
Recent headlines split between company-specific items and sector themes. The company-level news is routine and dividend-related — Entergy Texas declaring a quarterly preferred dividend in June, and a quarterly dividend announcement in April — alongside June coverage of the CEO discussing whether data center demand would fall on ratepayers. The rest of the flow is sector-wide: pieces on utilities positioned for AI-driven power demand, natural gas supply to data centers, and Meta's large data center project. Several of these mention other companies entirely, so the news cycle around this name is currently more about electricity demand from data centers than about developments at the company itself.
