What the data says

An overview of the public data behind CRNX.

Crinetics closed at $84.08, essentially at the top of a 52-week range that runs from $26.50 to $84.30 — the stock is trading within a fraction of a percent of its high, and the low sits roughly a third of that level. A range that wide, with the price pinned at the upper end, describes a year in which the share price was re-rated rather than one of steady drift.

The market capitalization of about $8.9 billion is being applied to a business that is not yet profitable: the forward P/E is negative at roughly -20.7, and the reported profit margin is zero, so there are no current earnings for the valuation to rest on. Price-to-book of about 7.5 places the market's figure well above the accounting value of the company's net assets, while revenue growth of roughly 23% reflects a top line that is still small relative to that market value. Beta of 0.09 is unusually low, meaning the shares have moved with almost no relationship to the broader market over the measurement period — behavior typical of a stock whose price is being set by company-specific developments rather than market-wide conditions.

The news flow is dominated by a single company event: coverage from early July 2026 onward centers on Vertex Pharmaceuticals' $10 billion acquisition of Crinetics, described in that coverage as carrying a 102% premium, alongside reports of the stock rising close to 100% in a week. Follow-on items include law-firm announcements investigating whether shareholders are receiving fair terms, and commentary using the deal as a lens on other acquisition candidates in biotech. That concentration explains much of what the price and beta figures show — the stock's position at the top of its range and its detachment from broader market moves both trace back to deal-specific news rather than to sector or industry trends.

About Crinetics Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

Crinetics Pharmaceuticals is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company that develops small-molecule therapies for rare endocrine diseases and endocrine-related tumors. Its research centers on orally available, nonpeptide compounds designed to act on hormone receptors that have historically been addressed with injectable peptide drugs. The company was incorporated in 2008 and is headquartered in San Diego, California. Earlier-stage work includes a somatostatin-targeted drug conjugate for SST2-positive solid tumors, along with programs directed at the parathyroid hormone receptor, the thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor, somatostatin receptor type 3, and oral nonpeptide incretin receptor agonists. Crinetics has partnered with Sanwa Kagaku Kenkyusho for development and commercialization of paltusotine in Japan.
