Advanced Micro Devices
Technology · Semiconductors
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is a semiconductor company that designs processors, graphics chips, and programmable and adaptive silicon. It reports results across three segments — Data Center, Client and Gaming, and Embedded — and sells primarily to other businesses: equipment and design manufacturers, cloud service providers, system integrators, distributors, and add-in-board makers. AMD outsources manufacturing to third-party foundries rather than operating its own fabrication plants. Its product range spans Ryzen processors for consumer and commercial PCs, EPYC server processors, Radeon and Radeon Pro graphics, and Instinct accelerators for AI and high-performance computing in data centers. Through its acquisitions of Xilinx and Pensando, the company also offers FPGAs, adaptive systems-on-chip, and networking and infrastructure acceleration products, alongside embedded and semi-custom chips built to customer specifications. AMD was incorporated in 1969 and is headquartered in Santa Clara, California.
