What the data says

An overview of the public data behind WEC.

WEC closed at $106.17, sitting near the lower end of a 52-week range that runs from $102.95 to $119.91. That band spans roughly 16% from trough to peak — a narrow path for a full year of trading, and the current price sits within a few dollars of the low. A beta of 0.462 fits that picture: the stock has historically moved at less than half the amplitude of the broader market, so much of its range has been carved out independently of wider index swings.

At a $34.6 billion market capitalization, the shares trade at about 20.6 times trailing earnings and 17.7 times forward estimates, the gap implying the market expects earnings to be higher a year out than they have been. Profitability is steady rather than fast-moving: a 16.7% profit margin on revenue growth of 2.6%, which is the shape typical of a rate-regulated business where returns are set by regulators rather than by volume expansion. The 3.59% dividend yield accounts for a meaningful share of what the stock returns to holders, and the multiple is being paid against that combination of modest growth and reliable margin.

The news flow is dominated by the dividend. Two separate items in December 2025 and January 2026 cover a 6.7% quarterly dividend increase, with a further declaration in April 2026 and a Wisconsin Electric subsidiary declaration in January. The rest is largely sector-level rather than company-specific: comparison pieces weighing WEC against Brookfield Renewable, roundups of utility stocks with strong dividends, and coverage of nuclear developments in the region, including notices filed with the NRC concerning the Kewaunee Power Station. Little of the recent coverage concerns WEC's own operations directly beyond its capital returns.
