What the data says

An overview of the public data behind SCHW.

Charles Schwab closed at $110.16, near the upper end of a 52-week band running from $83.96 to $114.53 — about 4% below the high and roughly 31% above the low. That spread is fairly contained for a capital-markets name, and the stock's position within it means the past year's climb off the low has held rather than faded.

At a roughly $190 billion market capitalization, the shares trade at about 19.7 times trailing earnings and 14.1 times forward estimates — a gap that reflects expectations of higher earnings ahead. Price-to-book sits at 4.3, which for a company with a banking balance sheet is a meaningful premium to the assets on it. The underlying profitability is substantial: a 38.8% profit margin alongside 20.9% revenue growth, so the multiple is being applied to a business that is both expanding and converting a large share of revenue into profit. A beta of 0.75 indicates the stock has moved less than the broad market, and the 1.18% dividend yield adds a modest income component.

The recent news flow is mostly sector-level rather than company-specific. Headlines cover investment-bank stocks and industry tailwinds, competitor developments at Interactive Brokers, Goldman Sachs, and Cboe Global Markets, and general personal-finance and retirement pieces of the kind Schwab's name commonly appears in. There is little in the current cycle that centers on Schwab's own operations or announcements, so the coverage reads more as commentary on brokerage and capital-markets conditions broadly than on this company in particular.
