What the data says

An overview of the public data behind FCNCA.

At $2,186.65, First Citizens BancShares closes near the upper end of its 52-week range of $1,623.76 to $2,237.82, roughly 2% below the high and about 35% above the low. That range is wide for a regional bank, and the position within it shows a stock that has spent the past year working steadily higher rather than oscillating around a flat level.

The market is pricing the roughly $24.9 billion business at about 11.7 times trailing earnings and 11.1 times forward earnings, with the modest gap between the two reflecting expectations of slightly higher earnings ahead. Price-to-book sits at 1.24, so the shares trade at a mild premium to the accounting value of the bank's equity. Underneath that, the business converts about 25% of revenue into profit, with revenue growing around 8.5%. The dividend yield of roughly 0.38% is small relative to those earnings, meaning most profit is retained rather than paid out. A beta of 0.61 indicates the shares have historically moved less than the broad market in both directions.

Recent news flow is routine and company-specific rather than event-driven: the dominant recurring item is the quarterly dividend declaration, appearing in July and October 2025 and again in January and April 2026. The one exception is a February 2026 notice that Pomerantz Law Firm is investigating claims on behalf of investors, a legal matter tied directly to the company. The remaining headlines in the feed — a technology leadership conference, a maritime shipping earnings release, and another bank's lending expansion — do not concern First Citizens itself and reflect general financial-sector wire traffic rather than developments at this company.
